“Kain Chik Dua Mungka” is a pronounced and boisterous take on the original version directed by Baba Quek Choon Juan, one of the key individuals responsible for the revival of Wayang Peranakan back in the 1980s. Drama ensues between the family members after the discovery of a betrayal between them. Find out the identity of the double-faced character in this Wayang thriller!

Do note that the play will be in Peranakan language but surtitle will be flashed outlining the storyline for the audience who do not speak the language.

Although I do not understand the Peranakan language, I was very touched by the passion of all the actors, actresses and members of Gunong Sayang Association.

Everyone spoke passionately and proudly of their culture, explaining their efforts to outreach to the youth in their endeavour to retain their tradition and heritage. I definitely enjoyed the Peranakan “pot purri” making session for the media event and tasting the delectable Peranakan food.

Oh yes! Do bring your shopping bags along for there will be a selection of Peranakan stalls at the Wayang Peranakan, from the likes of authentic home-cooked Peranakan cuisine, costume accessories to delectable Malaccan desserts and more.
